Green PCB adapter card with SFF-8612 Oculink port and SFF-8639 U.2 cable attached

SMUGDESK

SMUGDESK PCIe 4.0 x4 to U.2 NVMe Adapter Oculink SFF-8612 to SFF-8639 Cable 16GT/s

SKU CH-Q2HB-38CEC

PCIe 4.0 x4 adapter connects U.2 NVMe SSDs via Oculink SFF-8612 to SFF-8639 cable at 16GT/s

  • PCIe 4.0 x4 delivers 16GT/s for maximum U.2 NVMe speed
  • Oculink SFF-8612 to SFF-8639 cable connects U.2 NVMe drives directly
  • Reliable signal output keeps performance stable during long workloads
  • Simple installation fits servers desktops and professional workstations
  • Industrial-grade design enables high-performance NVMe storage expansion

PCIe 4.0 x4 U.2 NVMe Adapter

This adapter card adds a U.2 NVMe port to a server, desktop or workstation by converting an Oculink SFF-8612 connection. It runs at PCIe 4.0 x4 speeds so the drive can deliver its full Gen4 performance. The included SFF-8612 to SFF-8639 cable provides a direct, stable link to the SSD.

Builders expanding high-speed storage

It suits anyone who needs to install a U.2 NVMe drive in a system that already has an Oculink SFF-8612 header or slot. It is not for buyers who lack an Oculink connection or who need to attach M.2, E1.S or other form-factor drives.

16 GT/s Gen4 transfer rate

The card operates at 16 GT/s across four lanes, matching the PCIe 4.0 x4 specification. That bandwidth ceiling determines whether a given U.2 NVMe SSD can run at its rated speed.

Questions about this item

Should I choose the SFF-8612 or SFF-8639 end for my U.2 NVMe drive?

The SFF-8639 connector plugs into the U.2 NVMe SSD, while the SFF-8612 end links to the Oculink port on the adapter card.

What does the 16GT/s rate deliver inside my workstation?

It provides full PCIe 4.0 x4 bandwidth so the U.2 NVMe drive can reach its rated sequential read and write speeds without bottleneck.

Does the Oculink SFF-8612 interface limit the drive to PCIe 3.0 speeds?

No, the SFF-8612 cable is built to the Gen4 standard and carries 16GT/s, so the link runs at PCIe 4.0 x4 throughput.
