Converts M.2 NVMe or SATA SSDs in 2230 to 2280 sizes to a 2.5-inch U.2 SFF8639 drive for desktop or server upgrades
The SMUGDESK PH416 adapter card converts an M.2 NVMe or SATA SSD into a 2.5-inch U.2 SFF-8639 drive. It is designed for PC and server builders who need to install an M.2 module into a U.2 bay or backplane.
The card accepts B-key and M-key M.2 modules in 2230, 2242, 2260 and 2280 lengths. A 6Gbps transmission rate provides stable read and write performance for everyday storage workloads.
Verify that your M.2 SSD uses a B or M key before ordering. Ensure the target system has a free 2.5-inch U.2 SFF-8639 connector and sufficient physical clearance for the adapter card. Buyers needing direct PCIe slot mounting or support for other M.2 key types cannot use this product.

The adapter runs on PCIe 3.0 X4, which limits real-world throughput to 6Gbps for the connected U.2 drive.
It needs a standard PCIe slot on the motherboard and a 2.5-inch drive bay or bracket to secure the U.2 SSD.
Insert the card into a PCIe slot, mount the M.2 SSD onto the onboard B/M key socket matching its length (2230 to 2280), then connect the U.2 cable; the common mistake is not securing the M.2 screw for the specific SSD size.
