Connects 2.5 and 3.5 inch SATA drives to legacy IDE motherboards using a 7+15pin interface with plug-and-play operation
This compact adapter bridges modern SATA storage devices to legacy IDE motherboards. It enables 2.5inch and 3.5inch SATA hard drives, SSDs and DVD optical drives to function on older systems equipped only with PATA ports. The module supports standard SATA 7+15pin signal and power interfaces for direct hardware compatibility. True plugandplay operation requires no driver installation for immediate device recognition.
The adapter relies on the host IDE bus for data transfer, so connected SATA devices operate at PATA interface speeds. Legacy motherboard BIOS support determines maximum drive capacity recognition and boot capability. Power delivery depends entirely on the available IDE connector and system power supply. No additional controller features or protocol translation beyond basic signal conversion are provided.
This single specification decides suitability: the adapter must match your SATA device's standard 7+15pin connector layout. It accepts both 2.5inch and 3.5inch form factors using the same interface. Builders needing to connect drives with non-standard power arrangements or proprietary connectors cannot use this module. Systems lacking a functional IDE port require a different upgrade path entirely.

The same module works for both; its standard 7+15pin SATA interface accepts any 2.5 or 3.5 inch SATA hard drive, SSD or DVD drive.
It provides the standard SATA signal and power connections so the BIOS and operating system recognise the attached SATA drive as a normal storage device.
It uses the SATA 7+15pin standard, capping the connection to the SATA device's native speed while bridging it to the older PATA IDE motherboard port.
