Converts SFF8482 29pin SAS to 7+15 22pin SATA with an integrated controller chipset and dedicated power port for RAID arrays
This SMUGDESK adapter converts an SFF8482 29pin SAS interface to a standard 7+15 22pin SATA connection for hard disk drives. An integrated SAS controller chipset provides stable signal transmission compatible with RAID configurations. A dedicated power port supplies sufficient current for high-performance SAS and SATA drives. The compact PCB design supports plug-and-play installation on Windows and Linux systems.
System builders expanding enterprise storage arrays or configuring RAID backups in server chassis will benefit from the controller chipset and independent power delivery. Industrial storage integrators requiring reliable SAS-to-SATA conversion for mixed drive deployments are also well served. Home users adding a single desktop drive or builders without a SAS host port should look elsewhere, as the adapter requires a native SAS connection and serves no purpose on standard consumer motherboards.
The adapter comfortably handles multiple SAS and SATA hard drives configured in RAID arrays where the host controller presents an SFF8482 29pin port. It runs out of headroom when the host cannot supply adequate power through the dedicated port or when the backplane lacks the physical 29pin SAS interface required for connection.

Your RAID controller or HBA needs an SFF8482 29pin SAS port; the adapter plugs directly into that connector.
Yes, the builtin SAS controller chipset supports both SAS HDDs and SATA HDDs or SSDs on the 7+15pin SATA side.
The drive should spin up and appear in the RAID BIOS or operating system; no separate LED is mentioned for the power port.
