Connects legacy 2.5" and 3.5" PATA IDE hard drives via USB 2.0 at up to 480 Mbps for data recovery and backup
This adapter cable connects legacy 2.5inch and 3.5inch PATA IDE hard drives to a modern computer via a USB 2.0 port. It is designed for users who need to recover files, back up archives, or diagnose disks from retired IDE storage without installing the drive internally. The device supports both notebook and desktop parallel ATA drives, making it a practical tool for data rescue and vintage hardware maintenance.
The adapter requires no driver installation on Windows systems and uses a simple cable-style design for quick temporary access. A critical requirement is that 3.5inch PATA drives demand an external power adapter, which is not included, so the drive will not spin up without it. The unit works only with PATA IDE drives and is not compatible with SATA HDDs or SSDs, so verify the drive interface before connecting.
Operating under the USB 2.0 specification, the adapter delivers up to 480Mbps transfer rates during extended copy or read sessions, and falls back to USB1.1 speeds on older ports. Because the interface is limited to USB 2.0 bandwidth, large multi-gigabyte transfers will proceed at that ceiling rather than the drive’s native PATA speed, which is typical for legacy data recovery workflows.

No published specifications for this item yet.
The drive should appear in Windows File Explorer or Disk Management once the USB plug is inserted; you can then browse files or run a disk check to confirm normal operation.
The package includes the USB 2.0 to PATA IDE converter cable only; you must provide a separate power adapter for any 3.5 inch drive, and the hard drive itself is not included.
It works with 2.5 inch and 3.5 inch PATA IDE hard drives only; SATA drives are not compatible, and no other capacities or versions are offered.
