What this cable is and who it fits

A USB4 Gen 3x2 cable with USB-C male connectors on both ends. It carries up to 240W of power and 40Gbps of data while supporting 8K video at 60Hz. Suitable for users who need a short, high-performance link between a host and a peripheral such as an SSD, eGPU, MacBook, Steam Deck or Switch.

The specification that decides compatibility

The cable implements USB4 Gen 3x2 and Thunderbolt, delivering 40Gbps bi-directional bandwidth and 240W Extended Power Range. Both the charger and the device must support PD 3.1 EPR to reach the maximum wattage; otherwise the link falls back to lower PD profiles such as 180W, 140W, 100W or 60W.

Capacity and headroom in practice

At 1.6ft the cable handles full-speed 40Gbps transfers and 240W charging without signal loss. It will drive an 8K display at 60Hz or power a MacBook Pro 16'' at 140W when paired with a compatible EPR charger. The short length limits reach to desk-side connections; it cannot span longer distances between equipment.

Questions about this item

What does the 40Gbps rating mean when I connect an eGPU to my MacBook Pro?

The cable carries USB4 Gen 3x2 traffic at up to 40Gbps, so an external GPU sees the full four-lane bandwidth Thunderbolt allows.

How does the USB4 Gen 3x2 interface limit real-world throughput?

USB4 Gen 3x2 caps at 40Gbps, and Thunderbolt 4 certification guarantees that ceiling is met end-to-end with compatible hosts and devices.

Will the 1.6Ft length reach from a desk-mounted dock to a laptop on a stand?

At 1.6Ft the cable spans roughly 48 cm, suitable for tight desk setups but too short for floor-to-desk runs.
