1.6 ft USB4 Braided Cable Overview

The SMUGDESK USB4 short braided cable measures 1.6 ft and delivers 40 Gbps data transfer with 240 W power delivery. It uses a USB-C to USB-C connector layout and supports thunderbolt 4 and thunderbolt 3 hosts. The cable is backward compatible with USB 3.2, USB 3.1 and USB 2.0 devices.

Best for High-Speed Docks and 8K Displays

Suits users who need a short, high-bandwidth link between a laptop or docking station and an 8K@60 Hz or dual 4K@60 Hz monitor. Buyers who require a longer reach for desk routing or who need DisplayPort Alt Mode on a host that does not support it should look at something else.

40 Gbps Bandwidth and 240 W Charging Decider

The single specification that decides fit is the 40 Gbps data rate combined with 240 W charging; if your workflow demands that throughput and power level in a 1.6 ft cable, this part matches, otherwise a lower-spec cable will suffice.

Questions about this item

Does the 240 W charging capability generate noticeable heat during extended use?

The cable is rated for 240 W power delivery; heat output depends on the connected charger and device, not the cable itself.

What must my laptop or dock provide for this cable to deliver 40 Gbps data and 8K video?

The host port must support USB 4.0 or Thunderbolt 4 with DisplayPort Alternate Mode for video and full 40 Gbps bandwidth.

Will this cable work at full speed with my older USB 3.2 Gen 2 dock?

It is backward compatible with USB 3.2, 3.1 and 2.0, but will operate at the dock's maximum supported speed rather than 40 Gbps.
