USB4 cable for 40 Gbps workflows

This USB4 cable connects USB-C devices such as laptops, docking stations and monitors. It suits professionals who move large media libraries between workstations and need a single cable for data, video and power.

40 Gbps ceiling and 0.5 metre limit

The USB4 interface tops out at 40 Gbps, so throughput cannot exceed that figure. Passive cables at this speed are generally restricted to about 0.5 metre; longer runs require active or optical alternatives.

240 W charging decides compatibility

The cable carries up to 240 W (48 V / 5 A) only when both the charger and the device support USB Power Delivery 3.1. If either end caps at a lower wattage, the cable will simply negotiate that lower level.

Questions about this item

How do I decide between the 40 Gbps data rate and the 240 W charging capability?

The cable delivers both simultaneously; 40 Gbps is the peak data throughput while 240 W is the maximum power it can carry when paired with a compatible charger.

What does the 40 Gbps figure mean when I copy large files between two laptops?

Real-world sequential speeds reach up to 2.8 GB/s read and 2.1 GB/s write, so a 2.5 GB file transfers in roughly one second.

Which Thunderbolt standard does the cable use and what does it limit?

It is compatible with Thunderbolt 4, which caps the link at 40 Gbps data, 240 W power and 8K at 60 Hz or dual 4K output.
