E3.S 7.5mm PCIe 5.0 enterprise SSD

The Solidigm D7-PS1010 is a 1.92TB enterprise solid-state drive built for dense server deployments. It uses an E3.S 7.5mm form factor and a PCI-Express 5.0 x4 interface with 176L TLC 3D NAND. The drive targets data-centre workloads that demand high random-read throughput and consistent low latency. Opal security support is included for hardware-based encryption.

PCIe 5.0 x4 interface limits

The drive connects through a PCI-Express 5.0 x4 link, so peak bandwidth depends on the host platform supporting that generation and lane width. Random read performance reaches up to 2,350,000 IOPS while random write reaches up to 150,000 IOPS at 4KB. Read latency is 60µs and write latency is 8µs. Active power draw is 17W and idle power is 5W within an operating range of 0°C to 77°C.

1 DWPD endurance rating

Endurance is rated at 1 drive write per day, equivalent to 3.5 PBW over the warranty period. This suits read-intensive or mixed workloads with moderate daily write volume. Workloads that exceed this write budget will need a higher-endurance model. MTBF is 2,500,000 hours and the unit weighs 110g with a tolerance of 10g.

Questions about this item

Should I choose the 1.92TB version or is there a larger capacity available?

The D7-PS1010 is offered in a single 1.92TB capacity with 176L TLC 3D NAND, so there is no larger option in this series.

What does the 2,350,000 IOPS random read figure mean for my server workload?

That peak 4KB random read speed supports heavy read-intensive tasks such as caching layers or content delivery, while the 150,000 IOPS write rating and 1 DWPD endurance suit mixed workloads with moderate writes.

The drive uses PCIe 5.0 x4 — what throughput ceiling does that impose?

A PCIe 5.0 x4 link caps the drive at the Gen 5.0 lane rate, so sustained throughput cannot exceed the four-lane 5.0 bandwidth even if the controller could go faster.
