SonicWave 641 Indoor Dual-Band Access Point

The SonicWave 641 is a dual-band indoor wireless access point supporting IEEE 802.11b/g/n/ac on 2.40 GHz and 5 GHz frequencies. It uses five internal antennas with MIMO technology and includes a single Gigabit Ethernet port with PoE PD support for simplified deployment.

Suited for TAA-compliant indoor deployments

This unit suits organisations needing TAA-compliant indoor Wi-Fi with flexible mounting options including wall, ceiling, shelf, desktop or tabletop placement. Buyers requiring outdoor-rated hardware, multi-gigabit uplinks or multiple Ethernet ports for wired backhaul should consider other solutions.

Single Gigabit Ethernet port with PoE PD

The decisive specification is the single RJ-45 port operating at Gigabit Ethernet speed with PoE PD capability, which determines both the maximum wired throughput and the power delivery method for the access point.

Questions about this item

How much power does the SonicWave 641 draw when running continuously?

The SonicWave 641 receives power through its single Gigabit Ethernet port using PoE, so it draws power from the connected switch or injector rather than a separate mains adapter.

What must I already own to power and mount the SonicWave 641?

You need a PoE-capable Gigabit switch or a PoE injector, plus a suitable mounting surface such as a wall, ceiling, shelf or desktop.

Will the SonicWave 641 work with my older 802.11b/g/n devices on the 2.40 GHz band?

Yes, the SonicWave 641 supports IEEE 802.11b/g/n on the 2.40 GHz band, so legacy clients can connect alongside newer 802.11ac devices on 5 GHz.
