Video-first mirrorless kit

The Sony Alpha a7S III pairs a 12.1MP full-frame Exmor R BSI CMOS sensor with a BIONZ XR processor for UHD 4K 120p recording and internal 10-bit 4:2:2 sampling. It offers 16-bit raw output via full-size HDMI and removes recording time limits for extended shoots. The 759-point fast hybrid AF and 9.44m-dot QXGA OLED EVF support precise focus and composition.

Bundle adds lens, storage, filters and bag

The FE 24-70mm f/2.8 GM II lens covers wide to short-telephoto at a constant f/2.8 aperture. A SanDisk 128GB Ultra card rated at 140MB/s provides capture media. An 82mm filter kit includes UV, CPL and FLD filters. A large gadget bag with dual strap, blower, card reader, microfiber cloth and starter cleaning kit complete the accessories.

Check mount, filter thread

The lens uses Sony E-mount and requires an 82mm filter thread for the included filters. Verify your workflow supports 10-bit 4:2:2 files and 16-bit raw output over HDMI. Confirm the camera’s dual card slots accept the supplied SD card format for the desired video bitrates.

Questions about this item

Will the 128 GB card need upgrading for long 4K 120p sessions?

At 140 MB/s the SanDisk 128 GB card fills in roughly two hours of 4K 120p 10-bit footage; carry a spare for all-day shoots.

What limits continuous 4K 120p recording on the a7S III?

The camera removes the old time-limit cap, so heat buildup during extended 4K 120p 10-bit internal recording becomes the practical ceiling.

How loud is the cooling fan during all-day video work?

The a7S III uses passive heat dissipation with no internal fan, so operation stays silent; only the lens AF motors and touchscreen taps are audible.
