The Sophos XGS 118w is a new desktop appliance that combines wired and wireless security in a fanless chassis. It targets small offices and branch sites that need encrypted-traffic inspection, SD-WAN orchestration and zero-day protection without rack-mount infrastructure. The unit ships with a three-year Standard Protection licence bundle covering base, network and web protection plus enhanced support.

Nine 2.5GBase-T ports plus one SFP uplink

Throughput is defined by a 15,500 Mbps firewall rate and a 1,100 Mbps TLS inspection rate, so buyers can match the appliance to their actual encrypted-traffic load. An Intel x86 CPU drives 8 GB of LPDDR5 memory and 64 GB of UFS 2.1 storage, while the spec sheet lists no expansion slots and no Xstream Flow Processor. Buyers who need higher inspection throughput or modular I/O should look elsewhere.

Console cables and dual USB ports for local
