Bluetooth 5.0 Audio Receiver

The BT52A adds wireless streaming to any stereo or powered speaker system that accepts analog or optical input. It uses a Wolfson WM8524 DAC to convert the Bluetooth signal for high-quality playback. NFC tap-to-pair simplifies the initial connection for compatible phones and tablets. The receiver remembers up to eight paired sources for quick switching.

Range and Connection Limits

Bluetooth 5.0 supports line-of-sight transmission up to 20 m (66 ft); walls and furniture will reduce the practical distance. Only one device streams audio at a time despite the eight-device memory. The optical output passes lossless files, while the 3.5 mm jack with included RCA cable serves legacy analog inputs. No aptX or LDAC codec support is mentioned in the specifications.

Upgrade From Wired Dongles

This unit replaces basic 3.5 mm Bluetooth dongles that lack optical output or a dedicated HiFi DAC. The jump is worthwhile when you need both digital and analog connections on the same receiver, or when NFC pairing and multi-device memory remove daily re-pairing friction. It does not add a microphone for calls, so hands-free use is not supported.

Questions about this item

Should I use the 3.5 mm jack or the Optical output for my setup?

Use the 3.5 mm jack with the included RCA cable for analog systems; switch to the Optical output when your amplifier supports lossless or high-resolution digital audio.

What does Bluetooth 5.0 actually give me in daily use?

Bluetooth 5.0 extends the line-of-sight streaming range to 20 m (66 ft) and keeps up to 8 paired devices in memory, though only one plays at a time.

Does the Wolfson WM8524 DAC require a special Bluetooth codec to work?

No, the WM8524 converts whatever Bluetooth 5.0 stream the receiver decodes; no extra codec selection is needed on the source device.
