Extends internal SATA power and data connections by 12 inches with a 22-pin male-to-female combo cable
This 12-inch SATA extension cable carries both power and data through a single 22-pin connector. It joins a female combo plug to a male combo plug so the drive and motherboard sockets do not need to be stretched. The red jacket makes the cable easy to trace inside a busy chassis. Installers working with tight drive bays or backplane adapters gain extra routing freedom.
The cable is a passive copper assembly with no active electronics, so it adds negligible resistance to the 5 V and 12 V rails and does not alter the SATA signalling budget. No fan, controller or firmware is present, therefore the link runs silently and draws no power of its own. Signal integrity remains within the SATA specification for the stated length.
The extension replaces a direct drive-to-board connection when the stock cable falls short of a relocated drive bay, a hot-swap backplane or a dock mounted behind the motherboard tray. It is not suited for runs longer than 12 inches, for external eSATA ports or for any application that requires a locking latch or right-angle connector.

Connect the female 22-pin end to the motherboard or backplane SATA port, then plug the male 22-pin end into the drive; the extra length lets you route the cable without pulling tight on either socket.
The SATA combo interface is rated for repeated mating cycles under normal use; replacement is only needed if the plastic latch breaks or pins become bent during handling.
The fixed 12-inch length is the primary constraint; signal integrity for SATA remains within spec at this distance, so the cable length itself is the limiting factor.
