Connects a 2.5" SATA SSD or HDD to a USB-A port at 10Gbps with UASP support for fast data transfer, backups and drive swaps without an enclosure
This StarTech.com cable connects a 2.5in SATA SSD or HDD to a USB-A host at up to 10Gbps. It draws power from the bus so no external supply is needed. The 7.60m length gives flexibility for data recovery, imaging or quick file transfers.
It works with SATA I II III drives and supports UASP on Windows 8 or later and macOS 10.8 or later. Builders who need to connect 3.5in drives should look elsewhere because this adapter has no dedicated power input for larger disks.
The 10Gbps link saturates modern SATA III drives during sequential reads and writes. Random I/O performance depends on the drive itself. The cable cannot power or communicate with 3.5in mechanisms or non-SATA storage types.

Your host must provide a USB 3.2 Gen 2 or USB 3.1 Gen 2 port; USB 3.0 or 3.1 Gen 1 ports will limit transfers to 5Gbps.
No, the cable is bus-powered and only supports 2.5in drives; a 3.5in drive requires a separate power adapter such as the USB312SAT3 model.
In Windows open Device Manager, find the drive under Disk Drives, check Properties > Details for "UASP" in the driver stack; on macOS run `system_profiler SPUSBDataType` and look for "UAS" under the device.
