Connects a VGA monitor or projector to a DVI-I source using a molded male-to-female adapter with thumbscrews
Color Beige
This adapter converts a DVI-I male output into a VGA female port so you can connect an older monitor or projector to a desktop or laptop that only provides a DVI-I socket. The moulded connector includes thumbscrews for a secure fit. It is a passive device that simply rearranges the analogue pins already present on the DVI-I interface.
Because the adapter relies on the analogue pins of a DVI-I connector, it cannot work with DVI-D ports that carry only digital signals. It also cannot convert a purely digital source such as HDMI or DisplayPort without an active converter. The maximum supported resolution and refresh rate depend entirely on the capabilities of the graphics card and the attached VGA display.
The fixed DVI-I male plug and VGA female socket determine which cables and ports can be used together. Buyers needing to connect a VGA source to a DVI display, or those with DVI-D only outputs, will need a different adapter type.

Other versions of this model
Pick this model when your source port is DVI-I; it carries the analogue pins a VGA monitor needs. A DVI-D port lacks those pins so a DVI-D adapter would not work.
It lets you plug a VGA monitor or projector into a DVI-I graphics output on systems such as a ThinkCentre M93p or HP ENVY 700-339 without extra cables.
The adapter passes the analogue VGA signal from a DVI-I port, so the practical limit is whatever your graphics card and VGA display negotiate over that analogue link.
