A 5 ft Cat6 patch cable with gold-plated RJ45 connectors, 24 AWG stranded copper conductors and a snagless purple PVC jacket rated for 250 MHz and 100 W PoE
The StarTech N6PATCH5PL is a 5 ft Cat6 patch cable with RJ45 male connectors on both ends. It uses 24 AWG stranded copper conductors and a purple PVC jacket rated CMG for general-purpose installation.
The cable supports Multi-Gigabit rates of 1, 2.5, 5 and 10 Gbps up to 160 ft at 250 MHz and carries 100 W PoE. It is not for runs that exceed the rated distance or for environments that require a plenum or riser fire rating.
Snagless boots protect the connector tabs during routing through cable managers or tight pathways. Gold-plated contacts resist oxidation. The only common issue is exceeding the 160 ft limit for 10 Gbps operation, which degrades signal integrity.

Each end needs a standard RJ-45 female jack — the cable plugs directly into router, switch, PC or patch-panel ports.
The link will negotiate to the lowest common category, so a Cat5e panel limits you to 1 Gbps even though the cable supports 10 Gbps up to 160 ft.
Check the link speed in your OS network adapter settings or switch port status — it should show 10 Gbps when both ends support that rate.
