Splitter Cable for SATA Power

The StarTech PYO2SATA is a 6-inch SATA power Y-splitter that turns one male SATA power connector into two female SATA power connectors. It weighs 19 g and is designed to supply power to two disk drives from a single power-supply lead.

Builders adding a second drive

This cable suits anyone who needs an additional SATA power outlet without replacing the power supply. It is not for systems that require more than two SATA power connections from one source, nor for builds needing a longer cable run than the fixed 6-inch length.

One male to two female SATA power connectors

The single specification that determines fit is the connector arrangement: one SATA power male plug splitting to two SATA power female receptacles. If your power supply and drives use this exact interface the splitter will work; otherwise a different adapter is required.

Questions about this item

Does the 6 in SATA power Y splitter generate any heat or noise when powering two drives continuously?

No, the passive 19 g cable has no active components, so it produces no heat or noise of its own.

What must my power supply already provide for this splitter to work?

A single free SATA power connector on the PSU is all that is required.

Will the 6 in splitter work with older SATA hard drives and SSDs I already own?

Yes, it connects any drive with a standard SATA power port to the same PSU connector.
