Adds three USB 3.0 ports and a Gigabit Ethernet RJ-45 port with Wake-on-LAN via a single USB 3.0 connection
This adapter adds three USB 3.0 ports and a single RJ45 Gigabit Ethernet connection through one USB 3.0 Type A host port. It suits laptop users who need wired networking and extra peripherals without carrying separate dongles.
The hub shares a 5 Gbps USB 3.0 uplink, so simultaneous high-speed storage and network traffic contend for that ceiling. The Ethernet port negotiates at 10, 100 or 1000 Mbps half or full duplex and cannot exceed the link speed of the attached switch.
Consolidating both functions reduces cable clutter and preserves a second USB port on the host. The jump is worthwhile when you regularly connect wired Ethernet plus multiple USB 3.0 devices; buyers who only need extra USB ports or only need a network jack gain no advantage from the combined form factor.

This model provides exactly three USB 3.0 ports and one RJ-45 Gigabit Ethernet port; no other port-count versions are listed for the ST3300GU3B.
The RJ-45 port supports 10, 100 and 1000 Mbps full-duplex, so a Gigabit link runs at up to 1000 Mbps provided your switch and cabling also support it.
The USB 3.0 Type-A host interface caps the combined hub and Ethernet throughput at 5 Gbps, and it remains backward compatible with USB 2.0 and 1.x hosts.
