The Techly IDATA TOS-SP4 takes one Toslink input and duplicates the signal to four Toslink outputs. It lets a single source such as a TV, console or media player feed up to four soundbars, AV receivers or headphone amplifiers simultaneously. Home users and installers can distribute digital audio to several zones without running additional source devices.

S/PDIF limits and 5-metre cable reach

The splitter passes standard S/PDIF streams: uncompressed two-channel LPCM plus compressed formats such as Dolby Digital and DTS. It does not support multichannel LPCM, Dolby TrueHD or DTS-HD Master Audio. Optical cables on either side are reliable up to five metres; longer runs may introduce signal loss. The unit requires the included 5 V 1 A power supply to operate.

Four outputs with electromagnetic immunity

Four Toslink ports provide enough outputs for a typical living-room plus two additional zones or a small studio monitoring setup. Fibre-optic links eliminate ground loops and electromagnetic interference between source and destinations. The splitter cannot amplify or regenerate the signal, so cable quality and length must stay within the five-metre specification for each leg.
