Each cable adds 25 centimetres (10 inches) between a motherboard header and a fan. The male-to-female design works with both 4-pin PWM and 3-pin fan connectors. Two cables are included in the pack.

PWM control limitation

When a 3-pin fan is attached to the 4-pin female end the speed signal wire is absent so the motherboard cannot regulate speed via PWM. Voltage control remains possible if the header supports it. Braided sleeving protects the wires but does not change the electrical interface.

Connector gender and pin count

The cable presents a 4-pin female socket on one side and a 3-pin male plug on the other. Builders who need a straight 4-pin to 4-pin extension or a 3-pin to 3-pin link cannot use this pair.
