3-Pin Fan Y-Splitter Cable
This TeKit NTRACA0090 adapter converts a single 3-pin female header into two 3-pin male connectors. It lets you power two case fans from one motherboard or controller header. The cable is finished in black and blood red and measures one foot in length.
Practical limits of the 3-pin interface
A 3-pin connection supplies power and ground but carries only a tachometer signal back to the board. Both attached fans will run at the same voltage, so independent speed control is not possible. The motherboard reads a combined RPM signal that may not reflect either fan accurately. PWM control requires a 4-pin header and is not supported by this splitter.
Installation notes
Each connector is keyed to prevent reverse insertion, so alignment is straightforward. Route the short one-foot lead carefully to avoid tension on the header pins. A common issue is the motherboard reporting an averaged or erratic speed reading because it receives two tachometer signals on one pin.

Questions about this item
Should I choose this one-foot splitter or look for a longer version?
This model is only offered in a one-foot length, so choose it when the motherboard header or fan hub sits close to the two case fans; if you need more reach, a different cable is required.
What does the 3-pin layout mean once the splitter is installed in my PC?
Each 3-pin connector carries power, ground and a tachometer signal, so both fans will report speed to the motherboard while sharing the same voltage control.
How does the 3-pin interface limit fan control in practice?
Voltage regulation is the only control method available on 3-pin headers, so both fans will ramp together and cannot use PWM duty-cycle signals.
