Purpose and Audience

The Telefunken M81 is a cardioid dynamic vocal microphone finished in red. It targets singers, podcasters and instrumentalists who need a rugged stage or studio microphone with a tailored frequency response of 30Hz-18kHz.

Bundled Value

The product arrives as a standalone microphone without bundled accessories or software in the supplied data. Buyers should plan for a separate stand, cable and pop filter to complete a recording or live setup.

Fit and Alternatives

The M81 suits users who want a durable moving-coil design with strong feedback rejection and a balanced top end for vocals, drums or guitar amps. It is less suited for buyers who require a condenser microphone, integrated USB connectivity or a different polar pattern such as omnidirectional.

Questions about this item

Will the moving coil capsule or grille need replacing after heavy gigging?

The dynamic moving coil capsule is built for touring durability; only the external grille or windscreen may need occasional cleaning or low-cost replacement.

What limits output level before clipping during a loud drum or amp session?

The 1.0 mV/Pa sensitivity and sub-250 Ω impedance deliver a strong signal; the practical ceiling is your preamp gain staging rather than the microphone itself.

Does the red body run hot or add noise when used continuously on stage?

Passive dynamic operation produces no self-heating or electronic noise; only ambient stage heat affects the housing during all-day use.
