Surface protection film for sensitive materials

Tesa 4848 PV1 is a self-adhesive polyethylene tape coated with an age-resistant acrylic adhesive. It shields glass, anodised aluminium and plastics from dirt, moisture, chemicals and mechanical damage. The translucent film suits both indoor and outdoor applications where temporary surface preservation is required.

Practical limits of the adhesive system

The film is rated for up to four weeks of continuous exposure before removal is recommended. UV resistance allows outdoor deployment without rapid adhesive breakdown. After the stated period the bond may strengthen, making clean removal more difficult on delicate substrates.

Build quality and daily handling implications

German manufacture delivers consistent coating thickness and reliable adhesion across the .92 in by 109 yds roll. The translucent carrier lets workers inspect the protected surface without lifting the tape. Clean removal leaves no residue, reducing rework on finished components.

Questions about this item

Should I choose the .92 in width or a wider roll for covering large glass panels?

The .92 in width suits narrow trim and edges; for broad glass panels you would need multiple strips or a wider roll not listed here.

How long will the acrylic adhesive stay effective once the film is applied to a window?

The film is rated for four weeks of indoor or outdoor exposure before the age resistant acrylic adhesive should be removed.

Does the PE film work with standard hand dispensers or does it need a special cutter?

The roll measures 109 yds, so it fits common hand held dispensers that accept a 3 in core; no proprietary cutter is required.
