Compact Recessed Alarm Switches

This pack contains fifty recessed reed contact switches designed for door and window security systems. The white finish suits standard frames and the 3/8 inch diameter allows installation where drilling space is limited. They are sold new and intended for professional or DIY alarm wiring projects.

Build Quality and Daily Installation

Each contact measures 11 mm by 19 mm by 11 mm while the magnet is 3/8 inch by 1/8 inch by 3/8 inch. The normally-closed circuit opens when the magnet moves beyond a 5/8 inch gap, triggering the alarm panel. Twenty-two AWG wire leads extend 18 inches, giving enough length to reach nearby terminals without splices.

Practical Limits of the Reed Interface

Reed contacts only detect the presence or absence of the magnet, so they cannot report tampering or vibration on their own. The 5/8 inch maximum gap restricts use to tightly fitting frames; wider clearances will cause false alarms. Buyers needing wireless reporting, extended gap tolerance or integrated tamper switches must choose a different sensor type.
