Purpose and fit

The UniFi Camera AI Theta Audio Module is an accessory designed for the UniFi Protect ecosystem. It adds two-way audio capability and supplies power to compatible AI Theta camera units. Installers who need interactive communication at a surveillance point will use this module.

Deciding specification

The module functions as an audio and power cable, meaning it carries both the microphone and speaker signals and the electrical supply in a single connection. If the camera deployment does not require two-way audio or if power is already provided by another method, this accessory is not needed.

Installation and common issues

The unit connects directly to the AI Theta camera system and is managed through the UniFi Protect application on supported web, iOS and Android versions. A frequent issue is attempting to use the module without updating the Protect controller to the minimum required release, which prevents the device from being recognised.
