5" IPS Touch Monitor for CCTV

The Thinkstar 5" IPS touch monitor delivers a 1920x1080 display for on-site camera testing. It targets installers who verify IP, CVI, TVI and AHD cameras in the field. The unit combines video preview, PTZ control and cable diagnostics in one handheld device. PoE and DC12V outputs power cameras directly during setup.

Suited for installers needing all-in-one testing

This tester suits CCTV technicians who need rapid ONVIF configuration, IP address changes and auto-recognition of coaxial camera types. It is not for users who require larger screen real-estate for multi-camera monitoring. Buyers needing built-in battery operation or wireless connectivity should look elsewhere. The device focuses on wired installation workflows only.

1080p panel with 4K 30FPS HDMI input

The 1920x1080 IPS panel comfortably handles 8MP analog camera feeds and mainstream 4K H.265 streams at 30 frames per second. HDMI accepts 4K 30FPS while VGA supports 1920x1200 at 60FPS. Headroom ends at higher refresh 4K or multi-stream decoding beyond the single mainstream decode. PoE output at 48V and DC12V 3A supply ample power for most connected cameras.

Questions about this item

Does the Thinkstar 5" IPS Touch Monitor require an external power source or can it run from the PoE output of a camera?

The unit provides DC12V 3A and 48V PoE power output for cameras, so it needs its own power supply to operate.

Will the VGA input on this monitor accept a 1920x1200 signal at 60FPS from an older DVR?

Yes, the VGA input supports up to 1920x1200P at 60FPS for legacy DVR connections.

How can I confirm the tester is displaying a 4K H.265 stream correctly after connecting an IP camera?

The touchscreen will show the 4K video via mainstream decoding and the ONVIF tool will report the camera’s IP address and stream status.
