Whole-home mesh Wi-Fi 6 system

The three-unit Deco X50 kit delivers AX3000 dual-band Wi-Fi 6 across up to 6,500 sq. ft. Each node supplies three Gigabit LAN ports with WAN/LAN auto-sensing and runs on Android 4.4 or later and iOS 9.0 or later. Internal antennas keep the white chassis compact at 4.33" x 4.33" x 4.49".

Sustained-load behaviour

Wi-Fi 6 HE160 on the 5 GHz band provides a 2402 Mbps link rate while the 2.4 GHz radio runs at 574 Mbps, giving four spatial streams for consistent throughput when many devices are active. HomeShield security adds SPI firewall, access control, intrusion prevention, DDoS mitigation and real-time IoT scanning that operate continuously without degrading wireless performance. Parental controls enforce custom profiles, content filters, bedtime schedules and pause-the-internet commands across the whole mesh.

Pre-installation checks

Verify that your broadband modem can hand off a WAN connection to a Gigabit Ethernet port on the primary Deco unit. Ensure the intended placement locations stay within the 0°C–40°C operating temperature range and 10%–90% non-condensing humidity limits. Confirm that devices you wish to manage support the HomeShield app requirements for parental controls and network scanning features.

Questions about this item

How much heat does each Deco X50 unit produce when running 24/7 at 40 °C ambient?

The system is rated for continuous operation up to 40 °C (104 °F) with internal antennas and no moving parts, so heat output stays low enough for shelf or ceiling placement.

Do I need a modem with a Gigabit Ethernet port to use the 3 x Gigabit LAN ports on each Deco?

Yes — connect the primary Deco to a modem or ONT that provides a Gigabit Ethernet WAN link; the other two units mesh wirelessly or via Ethernet backhaul.

Will my older 802.11n devices on 2.4 GHz slow down the AX3000 mesh for newer Wi-Fi 6 clients?

The dual-band AX3000 radios serve 2.4 GHz at 574 Mbps and 5 GHz at 2402 Mbps simultaneously, so legacy clients share the 2.4 GHz band without dragging down 5 GHz throughput.
