Tri-Band Wi-Fi 7 Access Point

The TP-Link Omada EAP787 is a ceiling-mount wireless access point built for environments that need high-density connectivity. It supports the 802.11be standard and delivers tri-band 8-stream operation for offices, campuses or venues with many simultaneous clients.

Dedicated spectral analyzer radio and 10G port

A built-in spectral analyzer radio scans the RF environment to help optimise channel selection without interrupting client traffic. The single 10G/2.5G Ethernet port provides a high-speed wired uplink and accepts 802.3bt or 802.3at PoE for power and data over one cable.

Practical limits of the Wi-Fi 7 interface

Aggregate wireless throughput reaches 15.0 Gbps under ideal conditions, though real-world speeds depend on client capabilities, channel width and interference. Centralised Omada management and mesh roaming simplify large deployments, but the single multi-gig port may constrain backhaul capacity in very high-traffic installations.

Questions about this item

What does the 10 Gbps port mean for real-world throughput on the EAP787?

The single 10 Gbps port can operate at 10 Gbps or 2.5 Gbps, so the wired uplink will not bottleneck the 15 Gbps aggregate wireless capacity.

What mounting hardware does the ceiling-mount EAP787 require?

The unit is designed for ceiling mounting; the package includes a mounting bracket and screws for standard ceiling tiles or solid surfaces.

How is the EAP787 powered and what PoE mistake should I avoid?

It uses 802.3bt PoE; ensure your switch or injector delivers 802.3bt (not only 802.3at) or the access point will not start.
