HDBaseT Extender Kit for 1080p Installations

This HDBaseT extender kit transmits 1080p video at 60 Hz up to 500 feet over a single Cat5e, Cat6 or Cat6a cable. It includes transmitter and receiver units plus IR and serial control cables. Integrators use it to locate displays far from source equipment in classrooms, conference rooms or digital-signage runs. The kit ships new with mounting hardware and two external power supplies.

Distance and Resolution Limits

The link carries a 1080p 60 Hz signal to the full 500-foot (150 m) rating when solid-conductor Category cable is used. 7.1-channel surround sound, DTS-HD and Dolby TrueHD pass through without compression. RS-232 control operates at up to 115 Kbps for touch-panel or automation-system commands. Signals beyond the rated distance or over stranded patch cable will degrade or drop out.

Connectors, Mounting and Daily Use

Each unit provides a female HDMI port, a female RJ45 jack and a DB9 male serial port; the receiver adds 3.5 mm IR in and out jacks. Two adapter cables convert the DB9 to 3.5 mm male connectors for common control cables. Wall-mount brackets let installers secure both boxes behind displays or in equipment racks. External 5 V 3 A power supplies with NEMA 1-15P plugs power each end from standard 100-240 V mains.

Questions about this item

Should I choose the 500 ft kit or a shorter version for my 150 m run?

This model extends 1080p at 60 Hz up to 500 feet, which equals 150 metres, so it matches your distance exactly.

What does the 1080p 60 Hz rating mean when the transmitter and receiver are connected in my rack?

It means the kit passes a full HD 1080p signal at 60 frames per second over the Cat5e/6/6a link without compression, and also carries 7.1-channel audio including DTS-HD and Dolby TrueHD.

How does the HDBaseT Lite 731 interface limit the serial and IR control paths in practice?

The HDBaseT Lite 731 link transports RS-232 control at up to 115 Kbps and bidirectional IR, so you can operate a Blu-ray player or other serial device from the remote display location.
