Ultra-compact 550VA standby UPS provides battery backup for four outlets and surge protection for four more, with DB9 serial monitoring and Tel/DSL line protection
The Tripp Lite INTERNET550SER is a 550 VA standby UPS designed for PCs, network workstations and systems that rely on a contact-closure serial interface for monitoring and unattended shutdown. It provides battery-derived AC output during blackouts and severe brownouts starting at 99 V. Eight NEMA 5-15R outlets are split between four battery-supported and four surge-only connections.
At full load of 550 VA the internal valve-regulated lead-acid battery delivers 3.5 minutes of runtime. At half load of 275 VA the runtime extends to 10 minutes. The unit recharges to 90 percent capacity in 2 to 4 hours. An audible alarm signals when battery backup operation is active.
This UPS replaces basic surge strips that lack battery backup and serial monitoring for automated shutdown. The jump is worthwhile when protecting equipment that requires graceful shutdown during outages or when telephone and DSL lines need 252-joule surge protection. It is not suited for loads exceeding 300 watts or for installations requiring longer runtime than the rated figures provide.
Measured against everything we stock in Uninterruptible Power Supplies (UPS), at today’s prices. Recalculated every night.

The audible alarm indicates battery backup operation so you will hear it whenever the unit supplies power from its internal battery.
Any equipment with a standard NEMA 5-15P plug can use the eight NEMA 5-15R outlets; four provide battery backup and four provide surge-only protection.
Yes, the built-in DB9 serial port is designed for contact-closure monitoring and unattended shutdown on older systems that rely on that interface.
