600 VA standby UPS for desktop use

The Tripp Lite INTERNET600U provides 600 VA and 300 watts of battery-backed power for home or office computers. It keeps four outlets running during an outage while four additional outlets supply surge protection only. A USB port enables communication with connected equipment. The unit is new and designed for 120 V input.

Runtime and protection limits

At half load of 150 watts the battery delivers 9.9 minutes of runtime, giving time to save work and shut down safely. Surge energy is rated at 420 joules and a single TEL/DSL line passes through for data-line protection. Audible alarms signal power failure and overload conditions. The standby topology switches to battery when utility power falls outside acceptable limits.

Installation and compatibility checks

Verify that your equipment plugs into NEMA 5-15R outlets and that total draw stays within 300 watts. The input plug is a NEMA 5-15P for standard 120 V wall receptacles. Confirm you have space for the 3.1 by 10.8 by 5.7 inch footprint or a suitable wall-mount location. The unit weighs 6.50 lbs and operates at 99 percent efficiency.

Questions about this item

Should I choose the battery-backed outlets or the surge-only outlets for my router and modem?

Connect the router and modem to the four battery-supported outlets so they stay online during an outage; use the four surge-only outlets for printers or chargers that can tolerate a brief power loss.

What does the 600 VA rating mean for my desktop and monitor?

The 600 VA / 300 W rating supports a typical desktop and monitor at half load for about 9.9 minutes, giving time to save work and shut down safely.

What does the USB port actually let me do with this UPS?

The USB port enables automatic shutdown software on Windows, macOS or Linux so the computer powers off cleanly when battery runs low.
