Cat6 patch cable, 5 ft

This 5 ft Cat6 patch cable carries gigabit Ethernet between two RJ45 ports. Snagless moulded boots protect the latch during repeated insertions. Black jacket colour aids cable identification in dense racks. Suitable for Cat6, Cat5e and Cat5 installations.

Ideal for short desktop or patch-panel links

Home-office users and small-business installers needing a ready-made 5 ft run will find the length convenient. Installers requiring longer horizontal runs or pre-terminated trunk cables should choose a different length or bulk cable.

Category 6 rating decides fit

The cable meets Cat6 cabling standards, supporting gigabit speeds over the full 5 ft distance. If the network design calls for Cat6a or higher performance, this cable will not satisfy that requirement.

Questions about this item

Should I choose the 5 ft length or a longer cable for my desk setup?

The 5 ft length works well for short runs between a computer and a nearby switch or router; pick a longer cable only if the devices are farther apart.

What does the Cat 6 rating deliver when the cable is plugged into a gigabit port?

Cat 6 supports full gigabit speeds over the 5 ft run with reduced impedance and return loss compared with older categories.

How does the RJ45 connector affect what I can plug this cable into?

Both ends use standard RJ45 male connectors, so the cable fits any gigabit Ethernet port on PCs, switches, routers or patch panels.
