Patch cable for everyday networking

This seven-foot Category 6 patch cable carries data between routers, switches, computers and other RJ45 devices. The purple jacket makes it easy to identify in a crowded rack or behind a desk. Both ends are terminated with standard RJ45 male connectors. It is a straightforward choice for home offices, small businesses or temporary test setups.

Suits short runs, not long infrastructure

The 7 ft length works well for connections on the same desk, across a single rack shelf or between adjacent wall plates. Installers pulling cable through walls, ceilings or between floors will need a longer spool or bulk cable. Buyers who require shielded construction, outdoor rating or a different colour code should look at other cable types.

Fits standard RJ45 ports without extra parts

No adapters, tools or power are required — plug each end directly into the matching port. The flexible patch-cable design routes easily around corners and through cable-management trays. Because it uses the ubiquitous RJ45 interface, it frees up specialised cabling for applications that truly need it.

Questions about this item

Which devices need RJ-45 ports to use this Cat 6 cable?

Any network device with an RJ-45 jack — routers, switches, PCs, NAS boxes, IP cameras or game consoles — will accept the cable's male connectors on both ends.

Will this Cat 6 patch cable work with my older Cat 5e wall jacks and switch ports?

Yes, the Cat 6 cable is fully backward compatible with Cat 5e and Cat 5 infrastructure; it will negotiate the highest speed both ends support.

How can I verify the link is running at gigabit speed after I plug it in?

Check the port LEDs on your switch or router — amber or green typically indicates 1 Gbps — and confirm the OS network adapter shows a 1 Gbps link rate.
