Cat 6 patch cable for short runs

This 14 ft Cat 6 patch cable connects two RJ-45 network ports. The booted, snagless and moulded design protects the connectors during frequent handling. Purple colour helps identify the link in a busy patch panel or desk setup.

Suits standard Cat 6 links.

It meets Cat 6 performance for typical gigabit connections inside a room. Installers who need longer distances, plenum rating or shielded construction should choose a different cable type.

14 ft length fits nearby equipment

The fixed 14 ft span works well for switch-to-patch-panel or device-to-wall-plate connections. Measure the route before ordering because the cable cannot be extended or shortened.

Questions about this item

Will the Cat 6 cable run warm or draw noticeable power when left connected all day?

The Cat 6 patch cable is a passive copper link; it generates no heat and consumes no power regardless of how long it stays plugged in.

What devices must I already have for the RJ-45 male connectors on this 14 ft cable to work?

You need two pieces of equipment with standard RJ-45 network ports — such as a router, switch, PC, NAS or game console — to plug each end into.

Can I mix this Cat 6 patch cable with older Cat 5e cables already in my network without issues?

Yes; the Cat 6 cable is backward compatible and will negotiate the highest speed both linked devices support, so it works alongside existing Cat 5e runs.
