Ideal devices for this extension cord

This 6 ft extension cord uses 14 AWG conductors rated for 15 A at 120 V. The NEMA 5-15P male plug connects to a standard wall outlet while the NEMA 5-15R female receptacle accepts the power cord of a server, PDU, PC, monitor, laser printer or similar appliance. UL listed construction and RoHS compliant materials provide a heavy-duty link for equipment that requires the thicker gauge wiring.

Checks before ordering

Verify that the equipment you intend to power draws no more than 15 A at 120 V and uses a standard NEMA 5-15P plug. Confirm the existing power cord reaches the wall outlet with the additional 72 inches of length provided. Ensure the installation environment is indoor and dry, as the cord is not rated for outdoor or wet locations. The three-conductor round cable with black PVC jacket adds 0.67 lb to the cable run.

Thermals noise and power draw

Passive copper conductors generate no audible noise and add negligible resistance at the rated 15 A load. The 14 AWG gauge limits voltage drop over the 6 ft span, keeping connected equipment within normal operating parameters. No active cooling or power supply overhead is required beyond the device’s own draw. UL listing confirms the assembly meets safety standards for continuous indoor use at the stated ratings.

Questions about this item

What comes in the box and what extra parts do I need?

The package contains one black 6 ft extension cord with a male NEMA 5-15P plug on one end and a female NEMA 5-15R receptacle on the other. No additional parts are required to extend an existing power cord.

Which length or gauge version should I pick?

This model is the 6 ft, 14 AWG version rated 15 A at 120 V. Choose it when you need a heavier-gauge cord for servers, PDUs, or laser printers; other lengths or gauges would be different part numbers.

What does the 15 A / 120 V rating mean when I plug it into my equipment?

The cord is built with 14 AWG wire and UL listed, so it can continuously handle the full 15 A load that a standard North American 120 V outlet supplies without overheating.
