Industrial enclosure for network gear

The Tripp Lite SRN3RG12U is a NEMA 3R rated steel enclosure designed to house 12U of rackmount equipment in a wall mount format. Its 23 inch usable depth accommodates standard servers, switches and patch panels. The locking front door secures active gear in shared or public areas while the integrated fan with thermal switch provides active cooling when internal temperatures rise.

Wall mounting and thermal management

Mount the cabinet to a structural wall using the integrated brackets and hardware appropriate for the substrate. The 24.000 inch width and 28.070 inch height require clear vertical space and a stud layout that can support the loaded weight. Route cables through the knockout openings before final tightening. The factory wired fan activates automatically via its thermal switch, so no separate controller is needed; verify the power cord reaches a protected outlet.

Site requirements before ordering

Confirm the mounting surface can bear the combined weight of the enclosure and installed devices. Measure the available wall area against the 27.190 inch overall depth projection to ensure doors, walkways or other obstructions do not interfere. Check that ambient conditions match the NEMA 3R rating for falling rain and sleet if the location is exposed. Plan for a grounded AC circuit to supply the cooling fan.

Questions about this item

How do I confirm the thermal fan is running once the enclosure is mounted?

The built-in fan includes a thermal switch; it will start automatically when the internal temperature rises above the switch threshold.

What ships with the SRN3RG12U and what must I source separately?

The steel enclosure, pre-installed fan with thermal switch, locking hardware and wall-mount brackets are included; shelf trays, cable managers and any rack-mount equipment are sold separately.

Which capacity should I select if I need 12U of rack space?

This model provides exactly 12U of vertical mounting space in a 23 in. depth frame; choose it when your gear requires 12U and fits within the 27.190 in. overall depth.
