Compact dome camera for indoor surveillance

The Ubiquiti Networks Aircam-Dome is a ceiling-mount IP camera that streams 1-megapixel HD 720p video at 30 frames per second. Power over Ethernet supplies both data and power through a single cable. A built-in microphone captures audio alongside the video feed. Local recording is supported via the MicroSD card slot.

Suited for simple PoE installations without

This camera fits buyers who want a single-cable setup and on-board recording for a small indoor area. It is not for installations that require higher resolution, motorised pan-tilt-zoom, weather-rated housing, or a network video recorder with multiple drive bays.

1 MP sensor with 1.96 mm fixed lens covers a wide

At 720p and 30 fps the stream stays light on bandwidth while still showing room-scale detail. The fixed 1.96 mm focal length and f/1.5 aperture give a broad field of view but no optical zoom. H.264 compression keeps storage needs modest, though the single MicroSD slot limits total retention time.

Questions about this item

Do I need a separate PoE switch or injector to power this Aircam-Dome?

Yes, the camera receives power through Ethernet (PoE) so a PoE-enabled switch or a mid-span injector must already be in place before installation.

Will the 1.96mm lens cover the same view as my older 4.0mm cameras?

No, the 1.96mm lens gives a much wider field of view than a 4.0mm lens, so the scene coverage will be noticeably broader.

How can I confirm the built-in microphone is recording audio with the H.264 video stream?

Play back a recorded clip from the MicroSD card or the NVR; if the 720p footage at 30 fps includes sound, the microphone is active.
