Ultra-thin CAT 6 patch cable

The Ubiquiti Etherlighting Patch Cable is an ultra-thin CAT 6 network cable built for 2.5 GbE links inside a rack or cabinet. Its 0.15 m length keeps cable routing tidy between adjacent ports on switches, patch panels or UniFi hardware. Translucent RJ45 connectors let port-status LEDs shine through without obstruction. The white jacket matches clean-install aesthetics in modern network closets.

Passive cable thermals and power

As a passive copper patch cord it draws no power and generates no heat of its own. No active electronics mean zero fan noise and no additional load on switch power budgets. The eight conductors meet CAT 6 specifications for 2.5 GbE signal integrity over the short run. Normal use adds no thermal load to the rack environment.

Etherlighting connector benefit

Translucent RJ45 housings are shaped to transmit the switch's own port LEDs, turning each connection point into a visible status indicator. This removes the need for separate label readers or flashlight checks when verifying link state. The protective connector boots guard the latch tabs during repeated patching. No software or configuration is required for the lighting effect.

Questions about this item

How do I plug the 0.15 m Etherlighting cable into a UniFi switch without damaging the translucent RJ45 connector?

Align the latch tab with the port orientation, push straight in until the tab clicks, and avoid twisting the nano-thin jacket; the short length leaves no slack for strain relief.

When will the Etherlighting brightness fade enough to need a new cable?

The LED illumination is powered by the switch port and has no separate replaceable component; replace the cable only if the link drops below 2.5 GbE or the jacket shows physical wear.

At what sustained throughput does the 0.15 m CAT 6 link hit its 2.5 GbE ceiling?

The cable is rated for 2.5 GbE, so continuous traffic at or above that rate will saturate the link before any thermal or signal limit appears.
