Rear shock kit for F-body models
This Unity rear shock absorber kit fits 1982-2002 Chevrolet Camaro and Pontiac Firebird vehicles. It supplies two nitrogen gas charged shock absorbers designed as direct replacements for worn original equipment. The kit bundles both sides so the rear suspension can be refreshed in a single job.
Twin tube gas charged design
The shocks use a twin tube construction pressurised with nitrogen gas to reduce aeration and maintain consistent damping. Supplying the pair together removes the need to match part numbers separately and ensures both corners have identical valving. No additional mounting hardware or electronic components are included in the package.
Bolt-on replacement install
Each unit bolts into the factory locations using the original mounting points, so no fabrication or modification is required. The gas charge means the shafts extend on their own; installers should allow them to settle before final torque. Corroded lower bolts or seized upper nuts on older F-body cars are the most common delays during fitting.

Questions about this item
How often will the nitrogen gas charge in these rear shock absorbers need replacement?
The nitrogen gas charge is sealed inside each twin-tube shock and is not serviceable; the units are designed to last the full service life of the shock absorber without recharging.
What component reaches its limit first during extended aggressive driving on a 1982-2002 Camaro or Firebird?
The twin-tube hydraulic fluid will overheat and foam before the nitrogen charge or mounting hardware, reducing damping control until the shocks cool down.
How much heat do these rear shocks generate during all-day track use?
Continuous hard cycling heats the hydraulic fluid until it thins, causing fade; the external body dissipates heat passively with no active cooling.
