HDMI ARC to Optical Coaxial Adapter

The Unstincer UN-005-US is a 1.5 metre male-to-female cable that extracts audio from an ARC or eARC HDMI port on a television. It converts the signal to both optical SPDIF and digital coaxial outputs for connection to a soundbar, amplifier or active speakers. The adapter supports 24-bit 192 kHz sampling for clear sound quality and draws power from a USB port on the TV or a separate adapter. It is intended for home theatre, meeting room or conference room installations.

Suitable for TVs with ARC or eARC HDMI ports

This converter works with televisions that provide an ARC or eARC labelled HDMI socket and can output PCM audio. It is not suitable for sets that only offer an optical or coaxial output without an ARC-enabled HDMI input. Buyers who need to pass multichannel bitstream formats such as Dolby Digital or DTS should look elsewhere because the device accepts only PCM input and delivers PCM 2.0 output. It also does not support wireless audio transmission or Bluetooth connectivity.

PCM-only audio format support

The single specification that determines compatibility is the requirement to set the television audio output to PCM. The adapter accepts only PCM input and produces a PCM 2.0 stereo signal over its optical and coaxial cables. If the source device cannot be configured for PCM output, no audio will pass through the converter. The cable length is 1.5 metres (59 inches) and the unit weighs 1.7 ounces.

Questions about this item

How can I confirm the Unstincer UN-005-US is working correctly after connecting it to my TV's ARC port?

Set the TV audio output to PCM, connect the HDMI plug to the ARC port, link optical or coaxial to your sound system, and verify sound plays through the speakers with the TV remote controlling volume.

What cables and accessories are included with the Unstincer UN-005-US and what must I provide separately?

The box contains the 1.5 m adapter with built-in optical and coaxial cables plus a USB power lead; you only need a USB port on the TV or a separate USB power adapter to supply power.

Which version of the Unstincer UN-005-US should I choose for my setup?

The UN-005-US is a single 1.5 m model supporting 24-bit/192 kHz PCM 2.0; choose it when you need an ARC-to-optical-or-coaxial converter with integrated cables at that length.
