Extracts audio from HDMI sources up to 3840x2160 at 60 Hz and outputs 5.1-channel sound via Toslink or stereo analogue
The UTEK 4K HDMI 2.0 Audio Extractor pulls the audio signal from an HDMI video source and sends it to analog stereo or digital optical outputs. It supports resolutions up to 3840 x 2160 at 60 Hz and works with gaming consoles, Blu-ray players and streaming devices. No HDMI display connection is required for the audio outputs to function.
The unit includes an ARC mode that routes TV audio back through the extractor when the television has an ARC or eARC port; the TV remote cannot adjust volume while ARC is active. For 5.1-channel sound over the Toslink port, both the source and the connected display must support 5.1CH, otherwise the output falls back to 2CH PCM.
HDMI 2.0 and HDCP 2.2 compliance means the extractor passes 4K 60 Hz protected content, so it suits setups that need to split audio from a modern console or 4K player without downgrading the video signal.

The optical Toslink port is a passive connector with no moving parts; it does not wear out and requires no scheduled replacement.
The HDMI 2.0 interface caps sustained throughput at 3840×2160/60 Hz, so that resolution ceiling is the first limit reached.
The extractor has no fan and draws minimal power, so it runs silently and stays cool even with continuous use.
