Verbatim 8.5GB Double Layer Media

Verbatim 95484 discs are DVD+R double layer media offering 8.5GB capacity per disc. The spindle pack contains 15 discs rated for up to 8X write speed. AZO recording layers provide reliable performance for data storage and video recording.

Suits archiving large video files

Buyers who need rewritable media for incremental backups should look at something else. Users with drives that only support single layer DVD+R cannot use these discs. Projects requiring capacities beyond 8.5GB per disc need a different format.

8.5GB capacity on a single-sided disc

Two AZO recording layers nearly double the space of standard single layer DVDs. High-speed Double Layer writers support burning at up to 10x speed. Broad compatibility ensures playback on most DVD video players and DVD-ROM drives.

Questions about this item

How do I install the Verbatim 95484 8.5GB DVD+R DL disc, and what step do people get wrong?

Insert the disc label-side up into a compatible DVD+R DL writer, then select a write speed no higher than 8X in your burning software; the common error is leaving the software default at a faster speed, which causes failed burns.

What maintenance or replacement will the Verbatim 95484 8.5GB DVD+R DL discs need later?

These are write-once discs, so they require no maintenance; replacement is only needed if a disc becomes physically scratched or a burn fails, at which point you use another disc from the 15-pack spindle.

What limit appears first during sustained burning of the Verbatim 95484 8.5GB DVD+R DL discs?

The 8X maximum write speed of the media itself is the limiting factor; even if the drive supports faster rates, the disc will not record reliably above 8X, so sustained throughput tops out at that speed.
