Purpose-built media

Verbatim 97000 discs are DVD+R double-layer recordable media offering 8.5GB capacity on a single-sided disc. The 50-pack spindle suits anyone building video archives, full-system backups or large data sets that must stay on one piece of media without flipping.

Branded surface and AZO layer

The top surface carries a printable branded area for labelling. Verbatim’s AZO recording layer is engineered for high UV resistance and long-term archival stability, while the 8X certified write speed lets a full disc be recorded in roughly 12 to 15 minutes on compatible double-layer writers.

Capacity ceiling and fit

Each disc holds 8.5GB, enough for up to four hours of DVD-quality video or an equivalent data volume. The limit is the dual-layer DVD format itself; projects exceeding 8.5GB per disc will require multiple discs or a higher-capacity storage technology.

Questions about this item

Will the AZO recording layer on the Verbatim 97000 discs degrade and need replacement over time?

The patented AZO coating is designed to outlast generations and resist UV light damage, so the discs themselves do not require replacement if stored properly.

What is the maximum write speed the 8.5GB double-layer discs sustain before the drive throttles?

The discs are certified for burning at up to 8X speed, allowing a full 8.5GB to be recorded in approximately 12-15 minutes.

Does the spindle packaging or disc surface generate noticeable noise or heat during extended 8X burning sessions?

Optical media produces no operational noise or heat; only the drive mechanism creates sound and warmth during writing.
