Capacity and Form Factor

The Vertiv PSI5-3000SRT120LI is a line-interactive UPS delivering 3000VA and 2700W in a 3U rack/tower chassis. It suits server rooms and network closets that need dense power protection with a short 16.9-inch depth for two-post or wall-mount racks. The unit provides ten outlets, including one NEMA L5-30R and nine NEMA 5-15/20R receptacles. Input connects via a NEMA L5-30P plug on a 120VAC default supply.

Thermals and Runtime

Lithium-ion cells operate from 32°F to 104°F and recharge to 90 percent in two hours. At full load the battery runs for 7.7 minutes; at half load it extends to 18.3 minutes. The design meets UL 1642, UL 1973, UL 1778 and CSA 22.2 No. 107.3 approvals. Surge protection follows ANSI C62.41 Category B. No fan noise or acoustic data is supplied in the specifications.

Upgrade Considerations

This model replaces older lead-acid UPS units of similar VA rating where longer battery life, faster recharge and reduced depth are required. The lithium-ion pack lasts up to three times longer than traditional batteries, lowering total cost of ownership over a five-year horizon. It is not suited for environments exceeding 40°C ambient or for loads beyond 2700W continuous. Remote monitoring requires an optional Intellislot network card.

Questions about this item

How do I install the PSI5-3000SRT120LI in a rack and what step is often missed?

Mount the 3U chassis using the included rail kit, then connect the NEMA L5-30P input to a 30 A branch circuit; the step often missed is selecting the correct output voltage (100/110/115/125 VAC) via the front-panel menu before powering on loads.

What maintenance will the lithium-ion battery need and when?

The LiFe cells are rated for up to three times the cycle life of VRLA packs; no user service is required, but plan on battery replacement after roughly 8–10 years or when runtime drops below the 7.7 min full-load / 18.3 min half-load figures.

What is the first limit reached during a long power outage at full load?

At 2700 W the lithium-ion pack delivers 7.7 minutes of runtime; once that limit is reached the UPS shuts down, so the battery endurance is the first constraint under sustained full-load use.
