Vertiv 72V 9 Ah Battery Cabinet

The Vertiv PSI5-72VBATTTAA is a 72-volt DC external battery cabinet designed to extend runtime for compatible Vertiv PSI5 UPS systems. Its 2U rack/tower form factor fits standard server racks and targets government or government-affiliate environments that require TAA-compliant power protection.

Lead-acid chemistry with 3-to-5-year service life

The cabinet uses lead-acid cells rated at 9,000 mAh capacity. Expected battery life spans three to five years under normal operating conditions, giving IT managers a clear replacement planning window without needing to track individual cell health.

Passive thermal design for rack environments

The sealed lead-acid construction operates without internal fans, so the unit adds no audible noise to the rack aisle. Heat dissipates through the metal enclosure under normal float-charge and discharge cycles, keeping power draw limited to the UPS charging current.

Questions about this item

How long will the 9000 mAh capacity keep a compatible PSI5 UPS running during a power cut?

Runtime depends on the connected load; at full load the cabinet typically provides several minutes of backup, extending proportionally as the load decreases.

What does the 72 V DC output mean for connecting this cabinet to my UPS?

The cabinet delivers a fixed 72 V DC link; it must be paired with a PSI5 UPS designed for the same 72 V external-battery bus, otherwise the voltage will not match.

What physical space and mounting does the 2U form factor require?

The cabinet fits a standard two-rack-unit slot and can also sit as a tower on a shelf or floor.
