15 ft 50 A generator extension cord

This 15 ft cord carries 50 A at 110 V for up to 12500 W. It uses a 6/3+8/1 gauge STW cable with pure copper conductors and an N14-50P plug terminating in bare wire for hard-wired connections. The IP44 rating and -40 °F to 140 °F temperature range suit outdoor generator hook-ups for homes, offices or workshops.

Plug-and-play with ergonomic grip

The moulded N14-50P plug features an ergonomic grip that eases insertion and removal from a generator receptacle. A supplied storage strap keeps the heavy 6 AWG cable coiled neatly when not in use. The STW jacket resists moisture, oil and UV exposure, so the cord stays flexible in cold weather and does not degrade in sunlight.

Verify generator outlet and wiring plan

Confirm the generator provides a matching N14-50R receptacle rated for 50 A at 125/250 V before ordering. The bare-wire end requires termination inside a transfer switch, inlet box or panel by a qualified electrician following local codes. Ensure the installation location stays within the 15 ft reach and that the IP44 splash rating meets the site conditions.

Questions about this item

How do I verify the cord is delivering the full 50 amp rating after connecting it to my generator?

Check that the generator output matches 125V or 250V and the load does not exceed 12500W; the UL listing and STW 6/3+8/1 construction confirm the 50A capacity when used within those limits.

What comes in the package and is a mating connector for the bare-wire end included?

The box contains one 15 ft N14-50P to bare-wire extension cord and one storage strap; a SS2-50R or other 50A receptacle for the bare wires must be purchased separately.

Should I choose the 15 ft version or a different length for a typical home standby generator hookup?

The 15 ft length suits most generator-to-panel runs; select a longer cord only if the distance exceeds 15 ft, keeping voltage drop in mind for the 6 AWG conductors.
