VideoSecu VB213AP10 Balun Kit

This kit contains ten pairs of passive transceivers that carry video, audio and power over a single Cat.5 twisted-pair run. Each pair places one unit at the camera and the other at the DVR, replacing separate coaxial, audio and power cables with one inexpensive structured-cabling link.

Installers Consolidating Legacy Cabling

The baluns suit retrofit projects where pulling new coax is impractical and budgets favour Cat.5 infrastructure. They are not suited for runs exceeding the stated distance, for digital IP camera streams, or for installations that require active signal amplification or fibre-optic backbone integration.

1,000-Foot Video Reach with 12/24 V Power

Video signals travel up to 1000 feet while 12 V DC or 24 V AC power rides the same cable pair, giving ample headroom for typical CCTV layouts. Beyond that distance the passive design loses voltage and high-frequency response, so longer spans demand active repeaters or a different transmission medium.

Questions about this item

What type of cable is needed to connect the VB213AP10 baluns between camera and DVR?

Use inexpensive Cat. 5 twisted pair cable to carry audio, video and power up to 1,000 feet between the camera-side and DVR-side units.

Can the VB213AP10 work with an existing analogue CCTV camera that uses coaxial cable?

Yes, the balun replaces the coaxial run; connect the camera to one unit and the DVR to the other using Cat. 5 cable for video up to 1,000 feet.

How can I confirm the VB213AP10 is transmitting video correctly after installation?

Check the DVR monitor for a clear picture from the camera; the built-in surge protection and EMI/RFI rejection help maintain signal quality over the Cat. 5 link.
