Wired infrared dome camera

The VideoSecu VD49HMKC is a wired analogue dome camera built around a 1/3 inch CCD sensor with Colour DSP. It connects through a BNC video output and ships with a 12 V DC power supply, an audio-video-power cable, an integrated microphone and a warning sticker. The black vandal-resistant housing is rated for outdoor installation.

Manual 4-9 mm varifocal lens

The external adjustment screws let installers set the focal length anywhere between 4 mm and 9 mm without opening the housing, so the viewing angle and focus can be matched to the scene on site. Maximum horizontal resolution is 480 TV lines, delivered by the CCD and DSP combination.

Requires a CCTV DVR for recording

The camera produces an analogue video signal that must be fed into a compatible DVR; the recorder is not included in the package. Thirty-six infrared LEDs activate automatically at 0.0 lux, switching the image from colour to black-and-white for night surveillance. The tri-axis bracket allows pan, tilt and rotation adjustments after mounting.

Questions about this item

What does 480 TV Lines actually look like on a monitor?

480 TV Lines gives standard-definition analogue detail; faces and licence plates are recognisable at moderate distance but fine text will not be sharp.

What does the BNC video connection limit in practice?

The BNC output carries composite analogue video only, so the camera must plug directly into a DVR or monitor with a BNC input — no IP networking or HD-SDI.

What mounting hardware is required for the dome housing?

The tri-axis dome base mounts to a flat ceiling or wall with four screws; the package includes the camera, power supply, A/V cable and microphone but not mounting screws.
