Analog dome camera for legacy DVR systems

The VideoSecu VD70HKC-N1 is a wired analog dome camera built for existing CCTV installations that still use BNC cabling and a traditional DVR. It delivers 690 TV Line resolution through a 1/3 inch Pixim DPS sensor with Wide Dynamic Range, handling glare and strong backlight without washing out the picture. The varifocal 4-9 mm lens lets installers adjust the field of view on site using external zoom and focus controls. This unit is not a network camera and will not work with modern IP or HD-TVI recorders.

Passive cooling and low-voltage operation

The camera draws power from a supplied 12 V DC adapter and uses no internal fan, so it runs silently in offices, hallways or covered outdoor areas. Thirty-six infrared LEDs provide night illumination while a mechanical IR-cut filter switches automatically to keep daytime colour accurate. Power consumption stays modest because the analog signal chain and fixed LED array have no heavy processing overhead. The weatherproof housing protects the electronics from rain and dust without active ventilation.

BNC wiring and DVR dependency

A single coaxial run carries video back to the recorder, and the included video-power extension cable simplifies the connection to the DVR and power supply. The package also supplies a warning sticker for visible deterrence. Because the camera outputs a standard analog signal, it requires a compatible DVR with BNC inputs and a monitor for live viewing; it cannot record or stream on its own. Builders planning a new IP-based system should choose a network camera instead.

Questions about this item

How do I install the dome camera and what step is often missed?

Mount the dome, connect the BNC video lead and the DC 12 V power supply, then adjust the external varifocal zoom and focus rings; the step often missed is fine-tuning both rings after dark so the 36 IR LEDs give sharp night footage.

What maintenance will the camera need later?

Clean the dome cover periodically to keep the 36 IR LEDs effective, check that the mechanical IR-cut filter still switches, and verify the BNC and power connections stay tight; the power supply may need replacement after several years.

What limit appears first during continuous recording?

The analog 690 TVL resolution and BNC connection cap detail and cable distance, so extended runs or high-motion scenes hit that ceiling before any other component.
